Getting there
Balloch is forty minutes from Glasgow by train. Balmaha, Luss, Aberfoyle and Callander are all inside an hour and a half of the city.
What to know
- It is the busiest national park in the country on a sunny bank holiday weekend. Go midweek or go early.
- The West Highland Way runs up the east shore of the loch — good walking, and cottages near it book out in season.
- Camping is byelaw-controlled around parts of the loch between March and September.
