Getting there
An hour from Edinburgh over the Forth bridges, or the train to Leuchars for St Andrews. Dundee is fifteen minutes from the north.
What to know
- The East Neuk is the driest, sunniest corner of this list, and it is busy in July and August.
- Anstruther is where the Isle of May boats go from, for puffins between roughly April and early August.
- St Andrews fills for golf weeks and graduation — check the calendar before fixing dates.
