Glens, cliffs and a city

Angus & Dundee

The Angus glens on one side, red sandstone cliffs and Lunan Bay on the other, and Dundee with the V&A in the middle.

Getting there

Ninety minutes from Edinburgh, two hours from Glasgow, with trains along the coast to Dundee, Arbroath and Montrose.

What to know

  • The east coast is drier than the west. If a forecast has written off the Highlands, this often still works.
  • Glen Clova, Glen Esk and Glen Isla put you in proper hill country within forty minutes of the coast.
  • Arbroath smokies are still smoked in the harbour sheds; Montrose Basin is a tidal bird reserve.

Tell us where you'd go

We'll email you once when there's something worth seeing — the first cottages, in the places people asked for. No newsletter, no drip campaign, and you can say stop any time.
